Our impact Your Stories New appliances for Marie after a health set-back When Marie suffered a health set-back she reached out to FTCT for help with essential items for her daughter. In her own words, Marie explains the difference the grant made to her family's life. "My name is Marie and I am Mum to a 16 year old daughter and I work for John Smedley based in Lea Mills, Matlock, Derbyshire." "When I applied in I was going through a very rough time. I fell into heart failure, my cooker had a gas leak and my washing machine also broke. I had no chance of replacing either and couldn’t get credit because I was signed off work." "The grant FTCT gave me helped so much. They not only gave me funding for the washing machine, but when they realised I was using a camping stove to cook our meals, they supplied a cooker for me too." "My daughter has learned how to use the washing machine herself as it’s an easy straight cycle now and no faffing about! So she can do it herself in an emergency if I’m at work and her clothes smell divine and are cleaner she’s really happy now. The FTCT are amazing people with good hearts and I’ll be eternally grateful for their help to be honest." Marie’s advice for other parents Be honest, be open, and when they ask for proof of bank accounts etc just hand it over. They’re not prying they’re trying to help and need to establish your history and how much money you don’t have rather than what you do! Just trust the process they’re amazing people.
