"The financial breathing space has been incredible!" Talha

Talha is Dad to Talal (5) and Zunaash (1) and worked for many years as a Fashion Retail Manager. Here Talha shares his story of his family’s FTCT experience.

“At the time we applied to FTCT, my working hours reduced to 40 hrs per week. We were living in homeless accommodation and we had got into debt with our energy bills. At the time, I was trying to get funding for kitchen appliances for the permanent home we had been offered, which had no essentials provided.”

“The appliances we needed were really essential, because we had no way to  make or cook healthy food for my young children and could not do expensive laundry bills due to constant washing for school uniform and baby clothing.“

“FTCT awarded a grant for a fridge, cooker, washing machine and curtains just in time for us moving in, which made a big difference.”

“The appliances have really impacted my children’s daily lives. Having a working fridge freezer means I can store fresh food safely and prepare proper meals for them. The gas cooker has allowed me to cook healthy, warm meals every day, which has improved their nutrition and routine. The washing machine has helped me keep their clothes clean and dry, which has made it easier for them to attend school and activities feeling comfortable and confident. The curtains have made a massive impact too and helped make our home more comfortable.

“These items have made our home more stable, healthier and safer, and they have taken away a lot of stress from daily life.”

“I found the FTCT application process clear and well-supported. Receiving the grant has taken a huge weight off my shoulders and has really helped my children.”

To any other parents thinking of applying, Talha has this advice. “Just reach out and apply—you have nothing to lose and so much to gain. The help can make your home safer, more comfortable, and give your children what they need.”
