Celebrating our 170th anniversary

As we mark a new financial year, we also mark the beginning of the Trust’s 170th year! A lot has changed since FTCT was founded in 1853, but one thing has remained constant; our commitment to supporting the children of fashion and textile employees, through challenging times.

Earlier this month, the FTCT team and members of the Board of Trustees (pictured below) gathered for a special celebration, to raise a toast and mark the start our 170th year.

8 members of the FTCT team stand in a room surrounded by balloons, next to a big party cake and a screen which displays the words 170th anniversary.

Chair of Trustees Mike Taylor took the opportunity to say a few words and thank members of the Board and team for their hard work and passion for the charity.

Mike Taylor, Chair of FTCT's Trustee Board commented, "As the current custodians of the charity, we are here to act in the best interests of current and future beneficiaries. The sector has had a high number of job losses due to the changing nature of the high street, coupled with the pandemic and cost of living crisis. The relevance of FTCT has never been more pertinent."

"Every single grant we gives make a huge difference, as one parent told us recently, "I don't know what to say, I'm just crying happy tears."'
