We are able to offer grants to families who are facing unexpected additional rehousing costs as a result of any of the following:

  • Fleeing domestic abuse
  • Recently offered a house after an unsettled housing situation
  • Required to move because the property no longer meets the needs of the family, e.g. disability or health needs
  • Required to move by the landlord or council

To apply for an FTCT grant, one parent must work OR have recently worked in the UK fashion and textile industry, for at least one year within the last nine years. Find out more about our trade criteria

If you're sure you have never worked in UK fashion or textiles, unfortunately we won't be the right charity for you. Try this list of other charities who might be able to help your family.  

What we fund

Our grants fund items which are essential to a child's health and wellbeing. Families applying for a rehousing grant are encouraged to prioritise the essential household items they need, for example:

  • Essential White Goods- Fridge/freezer, washing machine, cooker/oven.
  • Kitchen equipment, e.g. pots, pans, cutlery, essential cooking utensils, glasses, basic crockery.
  • Essential electrical items, e.g. kettle, toaster, iron.
  • Baby equipment, e.g. highchairs, safety gates, cots.
  • Children's bedroom furniture, e.g. beds, bedding, clothes storage furniture (chest of drawers).
  • Children's soft furnishings, e.g. curtains/blinds, rugs. Please note, we typically do not fund carpets or other flooring.
  • Essential clothing, this includes, seasonal clothing and school uniform.
  • Other essential household items will be considered at the discretion of the grants team.
  • Specialist items: If you are moving house due to the additional needs of your child, we can also fund specialist items which support their health and wellbeing. Find out more.

Please note: we do have capped amounts for most items. Amounts awarded are at the discretion of the charity. 

What we can't fund

There are some items which we cannot fund, including:

  • Rent bonds
  • Rent arrears
  • Deposits
  • Adaptations to the home
  • Carpeting or flooring
  • DIY materials
